Waitrose

We created Food for Thought: The Waitrose Enterprise Challenge to support schools seeking creative activities that meet the requirements of Work Related Learning and Enterprise. The challenge requires pupils to Work in teams to research, negotiate and present the development of a new food project following the process from suppliers through to the supermarket shelf. The project was developed in consultation with staff from Waitrose and FACE, and was trialled with over 600 pupils in 10 schools across England. Evaluations carried out during the trial demonstrated that participation in The Waitrose Enterprise Challenge had a significant impact on pupils understanding of food production, awareness of careers in the industry and perception of their own skills and abilities.
