British Cheese Board - KS2 Geography
The third resource in the series takes a creative look at the role geography plays in diary farming and cheese making. The packs activities are based around a letter from Linda, a farmer in South Africa, who is hoping to relocate to Britain and become a cheese maker. In her letter she asks the pupils a variety of questions and stresses that the quality of their research and answers will affect her entire future. From their research the pupils will understand the cheese making process, the locations of the dairy industry in the UK, where cheese is sold and the ‘food miles’ it may travel to get there. Accompanying the resource is an A2 poster showing where milk comes from, cheese being made, cheese being transported to the shops and bought by consumers and finally eaten. |
